Assignment 3: Birthday Card [DONE]

No local content, totally. Very simple, the way I want it. In the other hand, I was sick and to make it worse I have the symptoms for virus H1N1 (oh snap). I wish I could give a lot more effort for page 2 alas, as I said, I was sick and still am.

Anyways the steps are as follow:

1. I decided to draw a candle. I used the image (link at the top of this post) for reference.

2. Lines for the candle.

3. Gradients, shadows, etc simple stuff really. But hey, it have that pseudo-3D look.

4. Background for the card.

5. Decided to add some depth to the background. I did random lines, duplicate them (a lot), use one of the brush strokes, change layer to soft light and transparency to 10%.

6. Added text, check box, smoke, a little of outer glow and page 1 is done.

7. Background for page 2. Just a mirrored version of page 1's background.

8. Drew a cake from scratch, added texts, and outer glow. Page 2 is now done.

Assignment 2: Calendar [DONE]

I chose Christmas as the theme for my calendar. I chose it because as a kid I was attracted to the idea of Santa Claus sneaking into houses and leaving presents for kids and snow (I wish we had snow) but as I grew older I decided to add some mature (adult) content to it which is women. I realize I did not follow the exact layout as instructed (I was following the instructions but somehow it changed in the process of making the calendar) so I hope this is acceptable. I experimented with the tools so I can't really remember them which results in the lack of explanations on how I achieved the the desired effect, again I'm sorry for not being able to give detailed steps for the most of it.

Steps into making it as follow:

1. I chose a gradient of red and the darker part of it as the background, which fits the theme I chose: Christmas.

2. Added date. Notice the squares to the left, it is to be added as a template for the calendar. I used rectangle tool and just copy pasted it.

3. Changed the fonts for the date as well it's size and position. The squares were made to fit in the calendar, added some background to it and changed the layer properties for an added effect.

4. Decided to add some snowflakes. First I made a double pointed eclipse shape, copy paste, rotate and use the extrude(?) tool, I forgot, but the toolbar is shown in the pic. First attempt at it and I'm quite happy. I'll leave it at that for now.

5. What type of Christmas without a Christmas tree? I totally forgot how to do this, sorry.

6. Decided to add Santa's girl to the calendar. I used this picture (link at the top of this post) for reference.

7. A little bit of progress of the girl. Simple tracing and all.

8. 50% completed. Almost there... This is hard work, so many layers. Listening to trance do help.

9. It is done. Looking sexy there, girl.

10. Added the girl to the calendar. Also added the title.

11. Decided to remove the tree, it just doesn't fit. Added more snowflakes (I used the existing snowflake into a spray to make my work faster) and shapes. For the shapes I used the shape tool and again, I forgot how I made the circles but the tool is in the same category as in Step 4 which I did for the snowflakes. Played with the layer properties and transparency for more desired effect. Time to save and...

12. ...NOOOOOOOO! Somehow Illustrator didn't save the file right. It messed with the gradient at the date so I had to remove it. This is the final piece. It is now completely done.

Research were made through the internet, and it was out to be true. Very interesting. Now, how am I to make a Chinese goddess of mercy into a logo. This gonna be hell.

Although sometimes, the hardest problem, the solution for it is the simplest. I always say that to myself.

First post. Havent been blogging for a really long years, so expect this blog to be fully customized (gradually) if I ever have the time.

This blog will function as a medium to submit my assignments for MCC0013 Computer Graphics class or as stated by our lecturer, Dr. Ken Neo.
